Wednesday, October 23, 2024PRESS RELEASE: TEMPORARY LOSS OF SEWER SERVICE ON FARR STREET
(Turlock, CA | October 23, 2024) - The City of Turlock is actively addressing a loss of sewerservice on a portion of Farr Street between W. Main Street and Columbia Avenue in City Council
District Two. On Wednesday, October 23rd, following construction activities on Farr Street, crews
discovered damage to a six-inch sewer main affecting five residential homes and potentially one
business.
Construction and repairs to the sewer line began this evening.
The affected business and homes will not have access to sewer service while repairs are being
made. For their convenience, the City of Turlock will offer appropriate services to those impacted.
“We recognize the significant impact this situation has on our community,” said Municipal
Services Director Christopher Fisher. “The City is taking all necessary steps to assist those affected
and to expedite repairs as quickly as possible.”
In addition, District Two Councilmember Rebecka Monez stated, “My main concern is for the
affected families; having grown up on the west side, I empathize with those impacted and am
confident that staff will ensure any disruptions are minimized.”
Prior to the start of construction, the sewer main underwent a pre-construction investigation, which
included a camera inspection. Compared to routine inspections, it was found to be in sound
condition with no defects.
