City of Turlock High-Efficiency Toilet and Clothes Washer Rebate Program
The City of Turlock Municipal Services Department currently offers a new High-Efficiency Toilet, Clothes Washer and Dishwasher Rebate Program. Rebates for the purchase of high-efficiency toilets, clothes washers and dishwashers will be available for up to $75 per toilet and dishwasher, and $100 per clothes washer. These rebates can be combined with other rebates being offered by other entities, including TID and PG&E.More than 20% of a customer's indoor water use is from toilets. A typical residential toilet uses 3 to 5 gallons of water per flush. A High-Efficiency Toilet utilizes 1.28 gallons of water per flush. Replacing a high water use toilet with a new HET of 1.28 gpf can save about 38 gallons of water each day. Efficiency measures such as replacing water guzzling toilets with the latest in low-flush toilet technology helps ensure the future water supply is adequate and helps maintain low water rates.
A High-Efficiency Washing Machine uses approximately 15 gallons of water per load of laundry, while a standard top-loading washing machine uses 40 gallons of water per load. Using a High-Efficiency Washing Machine can also bring energy savings as it uses less hot water and electricity to operate.
A standard-sized ENERGY STAR certified dishwasher costs about $35 per year to run and can save you an average 3,870 gallons of water over its lifetime. Dishwasher technology has improved dramatically over the last decade and new ENERGY STAR certified models include several innovations like soil sensors, improved water filtration, more efficient jets, and dish rack designs that reduce energy and water consumption and improve performance. By reducing water consumption, ENERGY STAR certified dishwashers also help protect our lakes, streams, and oceans.
