Why License Your Dog?
- California State Law requires it.
- It is your dog's ticket home... If your dog gets lost, we can contact you immediately and get your dog right home to you!
- It lets us know your dog has a current rabies vaccination.
- It tells the world "You are a responsible pet owner!" You took the time and spent the money to make sure your dog has current vaccination and a license and would be returned to you if lost.
Rabies Vaccination Requirements
The rabies vaccination is mandatory before the issuance of a new license. All new and renewal license applications require a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate issued by a veterinarian. The license is only valid during the period that the rabies vaccination is effective, so please check and make sure that the rabies vaccination has not expired.Vaccination Information
Rabies, if untreated, is a fatal condition for both animals and humans alike. Rabies is still prevalent in Stanislaus County. State Law Mandates that all dogs over the age of 4 months must be vaccinated for rabies and owners must obtain a license to verify the immunization.Proof of Spay or Neuter Required
If your pet is spayed or neutered, please submit a copy of the spay/neuter certificate from your veterinarian. We will also accept proof such as a veterinary bill detailing the spay or neuter surgery or a rabies vaccination certificate that indicates that an animal is spayed or neutered.Fees
